Photographers Stevie & Mada join forces with stylist Marcela Jacobina to transport you to a place where time has seemingly stood still.

Wedged in the small desert town of Yerma, California sits a roadside diner that has been brewing coffee since the 1950’s. This portrait series gives us a timeless depiction of the women who have worked in the institution for almost 40 years, most since the restaurant’s remodel in the 1980’s. The combination of the sand swept landscape and the nostalgic teal uniforms, including the “Peggy Sue’s 50s Diner” emblem, allows the viewer to imagine all these women’s vibrant personalities and transport us to that very dinner. As Jacobina concisely deemed a “style that reflects a unique re-appropriation of time.”
